The NIX Stop: For Bitter or for Sweeter? Sweet Solutions is for YOU! + How to go to Robinsons General Trias

Last week, I found myself lost in the middle of Bacoor, and asking police and the local barkers where the heck can I get a ride to Robinsons General Trias. Why go to such great lengths? Well, to check out and see if I can finally find the BEST Moist Chocolate Cake in the Metro of course!

For someone who loves discovering new places to get my Foodie Fix, you should know by now that when it comes to awesome food, I'm willing to cross borders. Sweet Solutions claims to have the best Chocolate Cake in town, and I'm willing to judge and see if they live to their claims.

They do serve coffee, brewed or Iced, and an array of frappes as well, aside from cakes, hence the play on Bitter or Sweet. I went for an order of their Clubhouse, since it's been a while since I've had a good one.

The verdict? Pretty awesome. It's much like how Delifrance used to make theirs, before they changed their name to Cafe France and shit hit the fan with their clubhouse(it's just not the same anymore- it's worse. :( ). For Sweet Solutions, this hit the spot with the packed bacon and hams, and melted cheese akin to a grilled cheese sandwich in the middle. YUM!

As for the claim on the BEST Moist Chocolate Cake? So far, they've lived up to it. The cake itself is something to give a standing ovation on, as it's moist yet not too dense, and packed with chocolate flavor, though not overtly sweet. The Chocolate icing/ganache on top is something that I feel has more potential though, if they can adjust it to a lower sweetness level. Combined, it's sure to hit the spot for your chocolate cravings. ;D

I paired it with a glass of their Red Iced Tea. You can taste the lemon in this baby. :D

Price wise, you'll be shelling out around 500 pesos for 2 persons, that's with a cake and a drink and a dish. Cakes per slice cost at around Php 110-130, depending on the flavor. They do have Tiramisu and Carrot Cake and Cheesecake flavors to name a few.

What they do specialize on are special occasion cakes as well. Fondant or Naked, for Weddings, Debut or Christenings, they can cater to your cake whims. Prices can start form 3000 Php onwards (up to 50,000 Php), depending on the cake customization.

UPDATE
How to get to Robinson's General Trias:
From SM Mall of Asia:
- There are shuttles at the front of SM MOA. You have to take a van that has a route of Naic-Tejero-Manggahan. This costs for 60 pesos. Just tell the driver you're alighting at Robinson's general trias, and you're good to go. :D (passes through coastal road from what I gather)
From Alabang-Zapote Road/Bamboo Organ Church(where I am located):
- I rode a jeep going to Zapote-Kabila, but a jeep going straight for SM Bacoor is also great. Fare costs for 7 pesos. Once you alight at SM Bacoor, you can take a 'Mini-Bus' that's located near the intersection before SM Bacoor and 7-11 store there. I took the one with the route of Tanza. Ask if they're going to pass by Robinson's General Trias though, just to be sure. I think the fare for that is less than 20 pesos. :D
Im drooling over those cakes! Especially that chocolate cake that you just mentioned. I was imagining how yummy it is in actual! I hope they have other branches too near us :)
ReplyDeleteAko hanggang read na lang. I am not diabetic pero I have never been into sweets so pass. As good looking and as yummy as it looks, siguro pwede tikim tikim na lang. Hahaha. Seriously, nice ang place ha. Pwedeng pang tambay and enjoy good conversation with friends tapos dahan dahanin ang cake.
ReplyDeleteIt's too far from me! I'm intrigued though with the claim to be the best cake! As a chocolate lover I feel the need to try it! hahahaha Prices seem decent and though it's just a small area seems perfect for a short rest and snack. Hopefully they put one up in my area!
ReplyDeleteI'm really hoping that they put up more branches around the metro too. :D
