TRASHion Show: Where Creativity Meets Purpose in a Celebration of Sustainability and Pride

At Savoy Hotel Manila, the runway isn’t just for planes—it’s also a stage for purpose, creativity, and pride. Last June, the hotel once again transformed its halls into a vibrant fusion of fashion and advocacy with the 2nd Annual TRASHion Show, an inter-departmental competition that celebrated not only sustainable creativity but also the colorful spirit of Pride Month. What unfolded was more than just a fashion show—it was a bold statement on inclusivity, teamwork, and caring for the planet, all wrapped in flair, fabric, and recycled finesse.

This year’s theme, “KULAY,” stood for Kalikasan (Nature), Ugnayan (Connection), Laya (Freedom),
Adbokasiya (Advocacy), and Yugto ng Pagbabago (A New Chapter of Change)—five values that
resonate with the hotel’s commitment to sustainability, inclusivity, and continuous growth.

With recycled and upcycled materials as their canvas, teams from Front Office, Housekeeping,
Engineering, Food & Beverage, Finance, and Sales, Marketing & Reservations transformed
everyday waste into stunning wearable art. Their creations—bursting with color, creativity, and
heart—were proudly modeled by their fellow associates, turning the stage into a celebration of talent
and teamwork.

The champion for 2025: Housekeeping

The distinguished panel of judges—Ms. Eden Decano, Group Director of Finance and Head of
Sustainability at MHR; Mr. George Buid, Publisher of Manila Stories; and Ms. Allyssa Majarucon,
Estate Officer of Newport City Estate Association—faced a tough call, as each entry stood out not just
for its craftsmanship but for the stories they told. In the end, what sealed the winners’ fate was the
powerful Question & Answer segment, where participants shared heartfelt insights on how
sustainability is deeply connected to social justice, inclusion, kindness, and diversity.

After much deliberation, Housekeeping was crowned Champion, with Engineering and Front
Office taking second and third place, respectively.

Beyond the competition, the event was a true showcase of camaraderie, fun, and shared values.
Closing the event, CGM JJ and GGM Art Boncato Jr. commended the teams for their passion and
creativity, encouraging everyone to keep raising the bar for next year’s celebration.

Congratulations to all the teams who made this year’s TRASHion Show a success. We can’t wait to
see what creative magic the 2026 edition will bring!
