REVIEW: Squad Cosmetics Peach Eyeshadow Palette and Coral Mini Palette

We're always looking for three things when it comes to eyeshadows. They should be pigmented, easy to blend, and affordable. Squad Cosmetics seems to have all three. No wonder it is the current go-to makeup of teenagers, and those who are starting out with make up. I bought these a couple of months ago, and now I'm here to give you a review on two of their palettes: the Peach Eyeshadow Palette and Coral Mini Palette.

Packaging of Squad Cosmetics Peach Eyeshadow Palette and Coral Mini Palette

The palettes are made of peach-pink plastic packaging with their logo on the see-through cover. You would have to be careful of this as it feels a bit flimsy. Because of that, I avoid having to bring this with my travel kit because it feels like it might break in my make up bag. (IF I actually went out but UGH pandemic)

There's no mirror or brush, which is both a good and bad thing. Good because I don't really use the included brush in most palettes, and I think it is why they are probably able to keep the cost of these palettes low. On the other hand, a mirror would have been beneficial, especially if you're doing your makeup on the go.

The Peach Palette is the big pan when it comes to the Squad collection. Both palettes feature a mix of matte, metallic, pearl and shimmer shades. These have an array of 9 shades that is themed around the specific color, like Berry which features plums and Neutrals which has pinks and browns.

I got the Peach and Coral ones, just because I love to use these shades that remind me of sunsets and summers. They are quite versatile and can go from a day to night look with the right blend of colors.

Price of Squad Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palette

I bought Peach Palette, and got this on sale for 149 Php or for 3$ in their Shopee Store, along with the Coral Mini Palette that was on sale for 99 Php or only 2$. Usually, their prices are 199 Php and 149 Php respectively.

Is Squad Cosmetics Cruelty Free?

It is stated at the back that they are cruelty-free, it weighs 17g, and you can use it for 24 months after opening. You can also see at the back that the palette is distributed by COSMETIX UNLIMITED INC. in Quezon City, Metro Manila, designed and formulated in Los Angeles, California, and made in China.

While it is made in China, Squad Cosmetics does not sell in China so yes, they are cruelty-free and are not tested on animals.

Swatches, Performance and Longevity of Squad Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palettes

Upon first swatch, you would definitely get excited. They're smooth as butter, and look so pigmented. Because of that, specifics like bad fall-outs can usually be ignored. The swatches below are over dry skin. It's kind of sad that there's no name or number for the shades, but I think it is another part that helped cut the cost of these palettes.

The thing is, once you start applying them and blending, it is not that easy if you are a beginner. I had some difficulty with direct application for both palettes. And the brand advises users to use primer first before application. In my case, I use a bit of concealer on my lids, they're great primers for eyeshadows too.

Another tip I would give is to pick a neutral base shade for your lids. This will help out with blending the other eyeshadows when you're creating your look. In the palette below, it is shade number 3.

While the shimmers and metallics are nice, you can't place them properly with a shading brush- unless you either wet the brush a bit or just use your fingers. You also need some time and a lot of patience if you're blending the shimmers to the mattes.

In the palette above, the mattes are 2,3,4,6 and 9. This palette is quite versatile as you can also use 4 as a sort of bronzer, some can be used as a blush and highlight too.

squad Coral Mini Eyeshadow Palette

The Coral Mini Palette is a bit more special for me than the Peach palette. While at first glance they may seem really similar, this actually features more popping oranges like shade no. 7 which looks like Cheetos dust and that metallic pink of shade 8 is a really nice addition to your glam looks.

These are all quite prone to fall-outs though, so if you can, add translucent powder on your cheeks or near the under eyes, so you can brush the fall-outs later. Or put on the shadows first before doing your face base.

Overall Summary of Squad Cosmetics Peach Eyeshadow Palette and Coral Mini Palette

Packaging: 3 out of 5

I wish it was just a tad bit sturdier. Or that it had a mirror.

Performance and Longevity: 3.5 out of 5

Once you put in the proper effort and primer, this can last for at least 6-8 hours, no creasing, it's a 4. BUT if you use this without primers, it's a 3, it's alright but could do better.

Affordability Vs. Quality: 4.5 out of 5

The Squad Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palette and Mini Palette do deliver on giving affordable, pigmented eyeshadows, but ease of blendability has limitations. Even at their regular price of 199Php, I still say the Peach Eyeshadow Palette is good for the price since you're getting eyeshadow pans that is at least as big as a 10 peso coin for the big palettes.

The same goes for the Mini Palette, but I recommend getting this one on the sale price of 99 Php. And if you want something that is best for versatile looks, go for the Neutral set or the Nude Mini Palette. If I'm buying another palette from them, it would be those two.
